Soul Proxy on The Native Noise Acoustic Collection

Soul Proxy formed in March 2003 and in only three months the band had secured a record deal with Musketeer Records. Besides being able to record and release a brilliant album the deal gave Soul Proxy an opportunity that many SA bands would have killed for; the support slot for Seether’s South African tour. After the tour Soul Proxy headed into B# Studios (where many great albums have been recorded (Marlowe, Sugardrive, Fokofpolisiekar…). The self-titled debut hit the shelves in May and the first run sold out before they started any official promotions for the album. Soul Proxy have successfully managed to move away from being refered to as “The Band that supported Seether” into a powerful rock band in their own right. The Way was a huge hit on campus radio and even received some airplay by those known not to support local rock. The acoustic version is just Ewald playing guitar while Will sings and it goes to show that a quality song can be stripped down to the bare essentials and remain a great song.
