To help drive Facebook likes on Clement Marfo & The Frontline’s Facebook page Alex Burford came up with a plan to reward Facebook fans with exclusive content.
Alex designed a tab to display behind the scenes photographs from the Overtime video shoot and I got to work building it.
The page used php to dynamically load thumbnails from a folder. I configured fancybox to open the full size images in a slick lightbox.
If a visitor isn’t a fan on the Facebook page they will see the thumbnails but they’re faded out and the link to the full sized image will be disabled. I floated a like button over the inactive gallery which reloads the page and disappears after a user clicks on it.
A few weeks later we were given the Cruelty Remix of Overtime to give away, so the exclusive content changed to a download link for Facebook fans.
I reconfigured the page to display a download link for existing fans and a like button for non-fans. The meta data on the page also needed to be edited so that the sharing functionality would post an updated message about the exclusive content on offer.
