Muse Social Connectome
When we saw the artwork for the new Muse album, ‘The 2nd Law’, my first thought was to use it in a visualisation of Muse fans connecting with each other.
To bring this idea to life I briefed the talented Lee Martin to create a Social Connectome. Lee partnered with Johannes Wagener to generate an impressive app.
The Social Connectome uses the latest WebGL technology to create a unique social graph inspired by the Human Connectome Project and The 2nd Law artwork. As fans join the connectome they create their own strand. Anyone they introduce to the project with their unique link will join that strand and continue to grow the connectome.
As more people joined, the app slowly revealed an unheard song on the album. While the Social Connectome grew fans unlocked more of “The 2nd Law: Isolated System” for fans to listen to.
The Social Connectome launched at the end of September and rapidly grew into an impressive visualisation as fans passed their unique URLs around the web.
