Photos: Musical Roots Walking Tour (Jan 2016)
Here are some photos and a review that I wrote for a walking tour we did with Rock and Trips Music Tours of London.
Great experience for tourists and locals
Having lived in London for 7 years, when friends came to visit in January 2016 we were looking for something different to the usual tourist attractions.
Our Musical Roots tour with Malcolm was fantastic! It provided our guests with a great alternative tour of Soho and gave us a new-found appreciation for many of the streets and buildings we often pass in the city. After two and a half hours packed with sites and anecdotes, you certainly get your money’s worth.
As a group of 5, we were lucky enough to have a private tour. Our group included two photographers, a massive Bowie fan and a massive Beatles fan. Malcolm was brilliant at tailoring the tour to include more stories and facts related to our interests. Some of us work in the music industry and appreciated being in the places where legendary stories happened, while also learning many more interesting bits of rock and pop trivia, like the origin of the term “The Old Grey Whistle Test”.
Whether you’re visiting as a tourist or a London local, I’d highly recommend Rock and Trips for an excellent way to spend a morning or afternoon in the city learning about the great artists who shaped popular music.
